Design of Amphibious Rescue Vehicle
Truhlář, Jonáš ; Karásek, David (referee) ; Rubínová, Dana (advisor)
The master thesis deals with the design of an amphibious rescue vehicle with a focus on rescue and evacuation of patients from inaccessible or flooded areas. The aim is to design a product that would fulfill the function of pre-hospital emergency care to the patient in the field and that would meet the conditions for integration between ambulance rescue vehicles. The representative amphibious vehicle for this work is a special articulated tracked vehicle known as a bandvagn. The thesis analyses in detail the intersection of the two markets of ambulance and amphibious in an attempt to find the aspects determining the development of the product. The design puts emphasis on the economic and financial balance of the proposed product, which it places on the product construction. The very design uses the integration of the off-road aspect of the vehicle with the ambulant one to bring a new perspective on the body shape of the modules.

Knowledge of medical secondary school students in South Bohemian region in providing first aid
PROCHÁZKA, Václav
My thesis focuses on knowledge in the field of First Aid taken at pupils of the graduation year to be a Medical Assistant, which they studied as a subject in secondary education. The theoretical part of the thesis can be divided into two segments. The first one deals with first aid itself. Here we discuss first-aid rules, legal liability, and last but not least, this part describes the most common health complications that require urgent solutions. For each, the first aid procedure is described. The second part describes how the first aid should be taught, in society in general and also for professionals who study to become a Medical Assistant. There are also issues related to the training of first aid lecturers. This section also contains a proposal for a new concept that, according to its authors, should make significant progress in first aid education. In the practical part of this bachelor thesis the questions of the questionnaire are analyzed, the questionnaire was given to the pupils of the graduation year studying to be a Medical Assistant in secondary health schools in the South Bohemian Region. These questionnaires were submitted to students to map their level of theoretical knowledge of first aid. Another aim was to detect deficiencies in first aid knowledge of students in the fourth year of the medical assistant at secondary health schools in the South Bohemian Region. The results should be provided to the managements of secondary health schools of the South Bohemian Region as an informative feedback, which reflects the level of knowledge of their pupils. Among other things, research has shown that the theoretical knowledge of graduate Medical Assistant students reaches an adequate level correlating with valid curricula. However, many students have significant shortcomings in their knowledge, especially in the area of basic emergency resuscitation.
Ethical aspects and dilemmas of work of fireman-rescuer
Tichá, Růžena ; Štegmannová, Ingrid (advisor) ; Oplová, Alena (referee)
A fire guard/rescuer vocation means to fight fire and to rescue human lives on daily basis. It is physically and mentally a very demanding job which impose excessive requirements on firemen/rescuers, especially during interventions at tragic events. In my thesis, I tried to realize fire guards'/rescuers' attitude to their job from the ethic side, especially how they perceive following ethic standards during their interventions. I am describing ethic dilemma in this occupation, firemen's attitude to this issue and their experience as well. In the theoretical part of my thesis I am introducing a summary of expert opinions on general apprehension of ethic and moral requirements, on the value system, on the stress incidence in a human life and on the need of psychological support. These all things compared to the professional fire guards'/rescuers' activities. The practical part is presented by the qualitative research where interviews with fire guards/rescuers and their commanders represent experiences and opinions of both groups on this issue. Key words: ethics, dilemma, fire guard/rescuer, values, psychological support, stress.
Causes of genocide in Rwanda: Psychological aspects
Burešová, Jana ; Zemanová, Štěpánka (advisor) ; Peterková, Jana (referee)
Ethnic discrimination has deep roots in Rwanda. For many dozens of years, Tutsis have been marked down as those whose task it is to rule the country and Hutus have been treated as those who have to submit to it. As time moved on, Hutu hatred had been growing steadily and resulted in coup d'état in 1959 and consequent persecutions of Tutsis. However, hidden grudge lingered on. The pretext for its revival was the RPF incursion into the country at the beginning of nineties. The invasion also became one of the major preconditions of the fastest genocide in history. This thesis aims to pinpoint actors with direct and also indirect influence, to specify their motives, to assess implications of their decisions and on the grounds of this all to divide them into groups of perpetrators, bystanders and rescuers. The identification of psychological aspects of Hutu perpetrators was made with intent to analyse the process of Us-Them thinking with its typical features and consequences and the process of dehumanization with particular emphasis on its linguistic forms. In connection with that, this thesis points out crucial importance of Rwandan media of hate which determined anti-Tutsi propaganda to a considerable extent.
